Ginger Rice Recipe

...brought to you by Recipes EU

Ginger Rice
1 cup rice
2 cups water
1 1/2 tsp chicken bullion
1 tsp butter or margarine
1 piece pickled ginger
2 tsp worcestershire sauce.

First, you should know that bullion often contains some sugar. The
Worcestershire sauce may also.

The pickled ginger can be found at any southeast Asian market. It comes
sliced, but for purposes of the recipe you need to julienne it in *very*
thin strips, and then cut the strips into 1/8" pieces.

Combine all ingredients except Worcestershire sauce and bring to boil,
stirring once or twice. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer for twenty minutes
or until done. Stir in Worcestershire.

Hope you like it. The pickled ginger is great over most dishes, if it is
cut thin enough. Unfortunately, the markets don't seem to be able to get
the same thin-cut ginger that can be found in some oriental restaurants -
why, no one knows. But cut thin as above, the ginger doesn't become
oppressive, and can be avoided by those who should be eating something
else.

Dieting tips

If you want to shed a few kilos and increase your overall condition, then, as any dietician will tell you, you should start a thoughtfully planned balanced diet. Theoretically, this must incorporate five portions of fruit & veg daily and also require the optimum combination of fat, carbs and proteins.

When planning a meal plan, it is important to try to lower your consumption of salt, fats and refined carbohydrate.

At the start of a diet, people usually focus on chain store and big brand foods professing to be 'low fat'. This is frequently wrong, for a food item might just be moderate in fat, but nevertheless contain far too many carbs & calories.

Learn to recognise the difference between hunger and thirst. Now and then during a normal afternoon, you consider that you want a snack when in truth you may simply need a cooling drink of water or juice. The feelings of needing food and needing a drink are close, but one of the two can lead to a broken diet and the other leads to no harm.

Instead of thinking about those types of food that you should leave out of your meal plan, look at the recommended foods that you can bring into your daily routine. If you bring in a few beneficial grains and vegetables into your dietary regime, you will find that you feel full and have a much lower likelihood of being tempted by those damaging afternoon snacks.
