Gluten Free Pastry 1 1/2 cups whole bean flour, (try puree)
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 tbsp cornmeal
1 tsp baking powder, gluten free
1/2 tsp salt
6 tbsp vegetable shortening
1 egg white
3/4 cup cold water
Bean flour is a new product being promoted by the Ontario Colored Bean
Growers of Ontario. If not available to you, try white bean puree. Less

Stir together dry ingredients, then cut in shortening until mixture is
crumbly using pastry blender or 2 knives. Try adding puree alternately
with shortening.
Whisk together egg white and a little less water if using bean puree. Stir
into dry ingredients to make a soft dough. Divide dough in half. Roll
dough out to 1/8" thickness on a cornstarch dusted surface, between layers
of waxed paper or layers of plastic wrap. Press into pan, patching if
necessary.
For pie shell or single crust: Trim edge leaving half-inch overhang to
tuck under and flute edge. Line inside of pastry shell with piece of foil.
Bake at 400 F for 15 minutes or until edges are golden brown, remove foil.
For double-crust pie: Trim edge, fill, roll top pastry. Tuck 1/2 inch
overhang under edge of bottom crust, press firmly together. Flue edges.
Cut steam vents. Bake as recipe directs for filling.
Makes 1 double-crust, 2 single pie shells or 24 medium tart shells.
Double crust: 184 calories, 1 starch, 1 fat choice 8 grams total fat, 2

Advice on losing weight
If your aim is to shed a few kilos and also enhance your all round health, then, as any dietician will tell you, you should decide on a thoughtfully designed wholesome weight loss program. In a perfect world, this must involve 5 portions of fruit & vegetables on a daily basis and also take in the correct mix of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
In planning a diet, the most important step is to make efforts to reduce ingestion of fat, refined carbohydrates and salt.
When chosing foods for dieting, people often focus on chain store and well known food items labelled 'low fat'. To do this is most certainly incorrect, seeing as how a food can be moderate in fats, but whilst still remaining contain far too much carbs & calories.
Recognise the difference between hunger and thirst. Every now and then at some stage in a hectic morning, you believe that you want to eat when actually you might simply want a cold drink of water or orange juice. The sensations of hunger and needing a drink are similar, but one can lead to a fat tummy and the other one is fine.
Rather than focusing on the many unhealthy foods you ought to eliminate from your weight loss program, direct your attention to the sensible foods which you might want to introduce to your dietary regime. If you are able to introduce the recommended portions wholesome fruit & veg into your meal plan, you'll soon see that stop feeling hungry and have a much decreased chance of falling prey to those damaging mid-afternoon munchies.
