Old Time Gingerbread 2 Eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup molasses
3/4 cup melted shortening
2 1/4 cup flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp soda
2 tsp ginger
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup boiling water
Add beaten eggs to sugar, molasses and melted shortening
Sift flour with dry ingredients; add to egg mixture.
Add hot water last.
Bake in individual greased pans or a shallow pan in moderate oven (350
degrees) about 40 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream or apple sauce or with warm butter.
Makes 16 pieces.
